well ive owned this mk2 for nearly 6 years now...
its bin off the road for about 3 n a bit years...
it came with a 1600 in it.. was slow but good for a first car...

ive decided to go sr20det n make some decent power and run good numbers at the drags... Im aiming for 600+rwhp and a low 9sec timeslip

ive stripped it back to nothing and have started from scratch... i got it sandblasted and it came up pretty good nice and straight few imperfections as u would expect but overall im happy with it...

all my fabrication work has bin carried out by craig at extreme custom engineering... and im doing all body work...

i started off by buying a sr20 red top long motor got it fitted with custom mounts running vlturbo rubber mounts because sr20 mounts r like $450 a pair... im running a fully built c4 auto with transbrake. so custom crossmember made up...
craig made me a custom tunnel big enough to fit the auto and im using a hilux diff

im running a big precision billet turbo on a custom steam pipe manifold with a custom 3inch dump, custom plenum, billet throttle body, custom highvolume sump.

its at the fabricators now getting a full 6point chromolly cage, minitubs, and my hilux diff fitted to suit the 17x9.5inch billet's i have for it.

anyways heres some pics of the different stages... wen i first bought it. then i stripped it and painted it, and then i stripped again lol

Hmm interesting what adapter did you use for the gearbox? I take it you had to lengthen the tail shaft?

have you spoken to many tuners about your goal power wise? personally, if i had a decent engine already, i would just put a set of poncams in, with the appropriate rocker set up, aftermarket ECU, and a t30 turbo, and you would see 350 all day everyday. reasonably responsive still, and easy to drive on the street.

a guy down south makes adaptor kits to bolt the z32 box to an sr, but there are a couple of kits from other shops around. my kit is the same as the mazworks kit from the US, yer ill be getting a custom tailshaft made to suit.

yer my mate owns 101 motorsport here in brisbane... my goal is to run low 10s/9's which is y im minitubbing it so i can get a decent tyre under the back

to make 350 out of an sr all you need is a stock engine in good cond decent injectors and a power fc with a gt3076r on it and like 18psi and will make it easy... a couple of my mates have run this setup and they were making around 380 rwhp with a lil bit of timing and a heap of fuel n theyve lasted over 2 years now

its jus going to be a weekend car because i need a ute for work. with the setup im running it will make 450 pretty easy. shouldnt be toooo laggy and drivability will still be decent... id probably look at running a different setup if it was an everyday street car but... would only chase 350/400rwhp

Awesome job mate. Will it be engineered/street reg'd?

Only issues I can see that you might come across are, the coolant flow from top radiator hose to engine when CAS is connected (can be worked around with a little customising).
The turbo looks like it's very close the inner guard, might hit when engine is on song (which I'm guessing will be most of the time ).
Having the gearbox X member mounted like that means your exhaust (3"??) will have to run under the square tubing/crossmember which reduces ride height severly. Maybe fab up a crossmember like the one in the pic below. What you have there now can easily be modified.

Also, what is the clearence like at the front of engine as far as water pump and pulley and fitting a radiator fan?

OK no worries I'm sick of breaking 5th in mine and I'm looking at options. I take it that's one the steel plate type not the thick alloy one?
I'l be interested to see when boost comes on with your setup so when you get it dynoed be sure to post it.
