I'm going to be buying 2x 15x8's for the rear of my arched 4door and 15x7's for the front. 4weeks wait on em as they have to be made =(. Ive started looking at really wide wheels for the back. (i dont need em i just want it to look hot =P) And I really want tyres with white writing, again just cause it looks awesome. And ive come up with:
BFGoodrich radial T/A
Cooper cobra G/T
Mastercraft avenger G/T

All are 275 60 15's. Does anyone have any experience with these tyres?
Thanks guys =)

Have a set of Mastercraft Avenger G/T radials on the RS2000 at the moment - somewhat smaller size though; 205/60R13[88]

Fitted around six months ago when the 10 year old Road Huggers gave up the ghost

Good grip dry, OK wet, no apprerciable tramlining with good directional stability, good turn in , no road noise I can hear over the webers and exhaust

Got them mainly to maintain the period RWL look, but have been pleasantly surprised how well they have been performing.

The Mastercraft Avenger G/Ts are bought into the country by the Brisbane based Cooper Tyres importers - these were my back up option when I was told they were not bringing Cooper Cobra GTs into the country......

Cheers

jimmyd Ive always loved the look of your rs, i think its cause of the beans and the tyres. But yeah looks the goods =)

I phoned around and I cant get Avengers bought into the country unless I purchase a min of 10. And I dont want to purchase 3 sets of tyres for a car that doesnt have an engine =P. Im sure some tyre joint will have a few sitting in stock but phoning every place down the east coast isn't something i wanna be doing. I found some 275 cobras locally tho. I rather the writing on the Avengers but thats really petty of me lol.

grant, I would think a 28spline B/W 78 LSD will cope?

That diff will cope no worries. Steer clear of BFG Radials absolutly hopeless in the wet and not to flash in the dry and I also had a simular size on my first car (265/50/15). If your only after it for the white writing is it possible to have someone paint in on like how they do the whitewalls?

275's??? I reckon you are going to need more than just flares, unless they are MASSIVE flares!

As im 3.5hours away from my esky Ive had to get family to do measurements for me and from what they say with all the orignal metal ive cut out I will be able to fit 275's if i get them to sit right out into the flare. I will be able to check for myself on Thursday night. I think i will make up a jig tyre outa cardboard to physical see if i'll have problems.

Thanks for the heads up on the BFG's KIZZA =)

why 275's though? the mentality behind my first comment was a weak foot print of a tyre, and a 950kg car doesnt put down much pressure on normal tyres let alone 275's.

are u planning to use this on the track or something?

No I'm planing to have a car that looks mean sounds awesome and can drive at the speed limit. Otherwise the police seem to take my money =P

Ive talked this over with many people and at the end of the day Im not building my escort to be a track weapon Im building it so i have something thats relatively unique looks awesome and I can have fun in, It might evolve into something to go fast in but thats not this build.

Wide tyres on the rear is apart of that look. Just like the chrome fuel tank the twin exhaust the flares the black bonnet the retrimed orange/black interior ectect.
