yeah i read on yahoo a few days ago. all the music and video labels are pulling the plug on all you tube videos containing there work

its silly but they have the right

I've wondered for a while why they were so relaxed on it.. Not surprised at the crackdown.

Seriously you people. Think of the starving rockstars!!

Ok, heres a tip. You can't copywrite a tune.. Only the lyrics. so if you must use someone elses music on your vids, use the instrumental or do some editing to get rid of the vocals.

yep fair call but is it really such a big deal if someone posts a video with background music?

i know i have watched a few videos on youtube and liked the music and then went and bought a cd of the band.

Thats not right, you can copyright the intstremental sections.

A good example would be bitter sweet symphony by the verve, which sampled (with permission) the Andrew Olsham Orchastra version of The Last Time by the rolling stones. Andrew Oldham sued as he believed it sampled too much of his song, and he won. The song is now attributed to jagger/richards, despite the lyrics being new (and the song sounding nothing like anytjing jagger/richards wrote). The verve got no money out of their biggest hit.

So watch out what you sample!!
