Don't waste your time Bernie, most capris have had their master cylinders sleeved and seal kits are readily available in Aus and are dirt cheap.

Keith, I'm not really sure why Ford would have updated this catalogue except that it does include 8 and a half pages of specific RS3100 parts. No cost to you, Keith.

Thanks  Steve,
main reason for R&D is to hopefully go to 25.4mm(1)" instead of factory 20.64mm (13/16") to get around 20% more braking power, which would not go astray !

piston area is a function of diameter squared so it would be a 50% increase, or in other words a 50% decrease in pedal force required which might just lead to locking up earlier.

In theory to get less pedal pressure for a given amount of braking you would need to change to a  smaller master (not bigger).

how embarrassing.....that's what happens when you answer late at night with one eye on the TV.  So yes would result in a 50% increase in pedal force required.

Read this before you go altering your brakes (first of five pages):

Interesting article but forgets the booster element all new cars have. Really doesn't change the point of the article though.
For me I had the original booster uprated which simply puts more force out than my puny legs can push and instantly better braking. I don't drive the Capri in the wet but always think about lockup if it was wet. Booster changed to 1:5 ratio by an engineer. Sorry should be put in its own section as off topic.
