Hi Everyone,

I'm almost at the point where I am going to pull the doors off the Escort, and so am looking for some advice on which method to use.  I can push the pins out of the hinges, which I've variously read is anywhere from easy to excruciatingly difficult, or I can pull the hinges off at the body by undoing the bolts.  I've attached photos to show what I mean in each case.  If you have opinions on which method is best, please post them up.

Thanks

how much work are you doing after doors are removed and how well do they fit currently.
If they don't need adjusting push the pin out and replace with new.

I just unbolted the hinges from the body when i removed my doors
Also makes it easier to remove pins if they need replacing

Hey Flighter,
I'm with JP, if they hang straight remove the pins, they can be tricky to get them to refit with the unbolting method however it's still an option.....
Let me know if you need a spare set of hands when it's time to get them off.....
Cheers Drewdog..........

The driver's door closes fine, but the passenger door may have sagged a bit.  Maybe I should use one method on one door and the other on the other!  The whole car is getting stripped to bare metal, so the doors have to come off.

Thanks for the offer of help Drewdog; I'm can't wait forever to pull that engine out either, and not ever having done it before I'd like to get in touch to get some tips; maybe when I come see the progress on your RS.  I've misplaced your phone no. though, so I'd appreciate a PM.

Pm Sent.........
It's worth sorting the gap before paint, depending on how sagged it is it may just need a tweak or some shimming , may save the headache of damaging a new paint job gapping it out afterwards...... either way give me a call anytime.....
