How she sits can't decide to paint the alloy radiator or cooler. What do people think?

Hey mate good to meet you today, van is looking good and not long before its back in action.On a mk2 I personally like grille and everything behind the grille black. Having said that its your car and it really depends whether you want the cooler/piping noticeable or more of a stealthy look.I vote black for look and stealth.Cheers

i found the size of the cooler was not so much a horsepower issue as much as it was a air temp issue, even with my sized cooler i still have some slight air temp issues when doing continuous high rpm on boost driving or short hard pulls, ( was a problem on the warm days when my car was tuned) still not enough of an issue to cause any problems just not ideal, and something for you to keep an eye out for.

Cheers dude il keep the thought in my head, want to get the car on the road and then whatever I need to upgrade or change I can do without taking it off the road for 3 years at a time :/

High air intake temps WILL lead to less horsepower on any engine. having said that what sort of issues are you actually having, how high are your air temps getting??

yes i am aware that higher intake temps will lead to less horsepower, i was thinking he was more referring to a flow issue with a smaller cooler , im not having any temp issue as the highest recorded air temp ive had has only been 55 degrees on a 30 degree day on a series of full power runs. im just saying that whilst this sort of temp is ok, but with a smaller cooler air temps are likely to spike quicker and no doubt stay around longer due to the lack of surface area to which can be cooled by the air.

alright everyone thats interested.... the van is i guess you could call finished there is still plenty to but its mostly cosmetic stuff its going in for a tune hopefully tomorrow, just going to make sure everything is safe and working how it should
 
 
painted the intercooler black because when i put the grill on it didnt do anything to hide the chrome haha
 
needs a wheel alignment, to be lifted a little at the back, some bits where i fixed rust to be painted, seats re upholstered , door locks welded up and maybe a cd player(but the note of it is plenty good enough)
 
il slowly get to all the little things as im cruising it around but for now im going to enjoy it

As far as Jap motors in escort engine bays go... the cadet looks the best.
Nice work, I'm sure that will be fun to drive
