Aftermarket baffled sumps are also available from companies such as High Energy -

http://www.highenergy.com.au/menu.html

The High Energy HE8063 race sump holds 4.5l plus filter, is winged and about 40mm deeper than standard, meaning the engine cross member may need to be lowered in order to get the engine in or out.

The sump contains two horizontal baffles, 3 spring loaded surge gates and a crank scraper (25mm strip of 1.2 plate welded along the ‘straight’ side of the sump, angled downwards at approximately 25 -30deg and 27mm down from the mounting face).

It is also supplied with a new oil pickup, and when coupled with an Accusump (http://www.accusump.com/), lack of oil should be history.

Costs - Drag version $365
Circuit $495

(N.B. Trimming the webbing on the back of the cross member may be necessary. Also, if using a Cortina starter motor, the lower mounting bolt may be difficult to fit. Chamfering some of the corners should make it easier to fit.)

Many thanks to Michael Green and Albert Del Medico.
