So what parts from the cortina can be used if putting 2.0 into escort?
Is the cortina radiator okay? Will a 1.6 escort single piece prop shaft, clutch cable & speedo cables be okay? Obviously an escort sump is needed. How much do they generally go for? Thanks

don't forget an escort oil pickup to go with the sump unless you want to modify the cortina one, tailshaft , don't forget the the little spacer block for the clutch fork if your gearbox is from a 1.6 escort , if it is the cortina gearbox, the shifter further back also.
 

also your body may need modifing for a 2lt escort radiator, but i think you can get away with a 1.6 escort rad if you put a thermo in front of the rad, don't quote me on that though

cheers jonsey. The pinto I'm looking at is in a cortina but seller tells me the motor is from a capri. He's having problems finding a starter motor for it because the 3 bolt starter pattern differs from cortina?? I thought this sounded a bit strange, maybe it's an excuse to not start it up, identify any problems etc

As far as I know the cortina starter motor is the same as an escort but is a bit longer and it's a PITA to get it in but can be done.

i ran a cortina starter for a while ,as above harder to get in and out though

hes saying the starter is from a capri because its a capri pinto. it's pre engaged and smaller than my M35J escort starter.
