Gents,

I have been trying a few things to see if I can make my 2L Escort run nicely again.
I have removed the choke butterfly valves and changed my primary jets to 145 / 137 from 137 / 132. I find that the car has a flat spot at around 3K and smells very rich. When i had the 137 / 132 it had a bigger flat spot.
Does anyone know what size jets I should go for. The engine has a mild cam no real mass horsepower.
The car idles rough and just doesnt feel like it develops power nicely.
One more thing. Does anyone know where the Pump Discharge Blanking Needle need to be. Dos it have to be screwed in all the way or not?

A number of years ago, I poured through a Weber book and looked up the primary and secondary jet sized for all 32/36 equiped Pinto Engined 2Lt Fords (Escorts, Cortinas, Capris and Granadas...)

They all ranged from 127 to 140, with Autos generally having bigger and bigger cars also having bigger... Generally manual cars had a slightly smaller primary jet, and autos had similar sized jets between the main and seondary, but some were bigger and some were smaller...

I ran 140's in both barrels of a 2Lt Escort that was essentially fresh, but standard with extractors and an exhaust. It ran well and got good economy too. 145 may be a little big for the primary...

hi,

I was curious to see some of the jetting set ups on the 32/36 carbi on pinto engines. I would like to know about your experiences and what you consider a good set up for mild street engine. Please also tell if you tinkered with the emulsion tubes.

i had 140s in mine and it kept fouling plugs, mines a 2ltr, cammed, ported etc

i changed to 130's (easy to get because there from falcon carbs)

and it ran pretty well!

I have 137 and 132 with 50 and 55 idle jets. Goes ok but was wondering if going up a bit would help. Particularly at top end cos i think it starves a little.

if it starves only in the top end i wouldn't start by chasing the jets, lower the float level a bit. float chamber is probably draining itself?

Ok

I put a 145 for the primary and 137 for secondary. The car goes well, the flat spot it had has dissapeared. All and all it goes well but it still smells bad. WHether or not it has big or small jets, it still stinks like un burnt fuel.

Its doing my head in. Dunno what else to do.

PS the plugs look fine, they are not fouled
