Hi Paul,
I have all of the documentation together for both RS's ready to submit to the Register in the near future.
The first RS is currently in storage (since 1990) so I will take a new photo of this for the Register. This car is (and has always been) very significant to me. It was bought for for me by my father when I had just turned 17 years old. It was the very first car in our family and was a very large outlay for a middle class family. I rolled (partly flipped) the car on Boxing Day 1981 when it was just 18 months old, on a road I had been driving for years previously. I was not speeding, or being an idiot. The car had 17,156 km on the clock. Immediately, as an insurance write off (I was then 19 years old, and with no experiance and no direct assistance from other's) stripped and rebuilt the car completely from literally the floorpan upwards with all brand new panels and parts. I learned how to grind, weld, straighten, panel beat, paint and spray paint, assemble and to improve, all under the family front yard carport.
In 1985/6 I developed a 2 litre (not the original engine!) to 2.45 litres with a hand made high tensile steel crank and rods with Switzer turbo. Fortunately I realised the future value of these cars and I had a policy of absolutely no modifications to the original vehicle panel work.
Currently the car has a genuine 44,446 km and is in immaculate and as original condition inside and out, with matching numbers and with all documentation, even the original sales deposit receipt for $50-00 to buy the car. Unfortunately my father is no longer with us to still see the car.
After a long hiatus (20+ years) I have recently got the bug to do something with the RS's again. Several weeks ago over Easter my better half and I purchased a second RS in perfect working order. Immediately stripped, (the better half did not get a chance to ride in it!) the bodyshell is currently on a rack/spit being totally restored from bare body shell up. Keeping busy at this end!
If you would like some assistance with the Register then maybe we can help. We have IT experience and the Register may be a good project to become involved with as time permits. Can discuss more if you wish.
ta, PeterM
