Hello All,
Just wondering about the 6 digit SIDO number appearing on the compliance plate of the Escorts. I understand that the SIDO number was an identification number chosen by Ford on receipt of an order from the dealer. Would this mean that the original selling dealer can be identified by this number? Does anyone know about this??

Good question.
It would be nice to know where the car was sold from new. Anyone?

And who bought the Midnight MK2RS four door? off e-bay earlier this week? mungrel.

Hi SaggaRS,
The white 4 door is residing in the corner at the moment, well for the past 18 years. I will take some photos very soon and post them.

Hi Bodie,
We have just about completed your time machine, but with just one mod. We want to go back to 1980 and 1981 (not 1982) so we can buy up every RS2000 and all Escort spare parts that Ford have in captivity......Oh, I expect to back in 1981 in a week or two so we can also find an abundance of the RS2000 tee shirts for you.(very soon).

I love these cars,Ive got to ask a question to the gurus here.

have a look in the register both Sean and myself own the only 2 door original autos on the register, its got me thinking does any one ctually know how many autos were sold, from my research not many and i believe there cars are fairly rare.

any one have more info on any other RS autos 4 doors or 2.

from a drivers car point of veiw it does nothing for me but just the to have an aussie only RS auto that is fairly uncommon is cool.

i want to get an auto and fit it one day just for kicks

While we're at it - is there a summary of RS2000's produced according to the month, the colour, 2/4 Door etc?

We can proably start to collate this according to the Serial No (would be in numeric order with the lower number produced earlier.

This is going down the road of a lot of 'registers' where you can start to identify cars that were produced first/last up, rarity in terms of colur (ie: 5? silver ones) or transmission. All in the name of vanity and potentially increasing the value of cars that are 'special'.

Whilst not in the same league - Aust Muscle Car had a similar listing of all the RPO 83's (XA GT) when they did a feature article on the car.
