All I care about is that people have valid and knowledgable comments and experiences. I don't care who is on the naughty list and who is on the nice list.

You make a good point...

If the guys coming in at grass roots level to this hobby were to listen to the guys bagging entry level gear...we wouldn't have any new interest/blood to keep our hobby alive as the apparent acceptable gear is priced out of reach[x2x] Not everyone can afford the top level gear to start with...I know I was in the same boat hence why Im rebuilding my car now with the gear I would like to use rather than what i could afford the first time round. I sell the benefits of using genuine Subaru parts and service everyday and believe very strongly in what I sell but if I was to ignore/run down the aftermarket competition I would firstly be an idiot and secondly be stuggling in business if still in business at all...there is a place for cheaper gear and it isnt all as bad as claimed. To the guys that need to use cheaper parts...aftermarket steering and suspension parts have been used in Escorts/Cortinas and Capris in Australia for years...the only time I have seen a component worn too a life threatening state or in a life threatening state it has been as a result of the owners ignorance. Dont be put off by elitism...you can safely use these parts without fear if you check your vehicle properly at appropriate service intervals[;^)]

If you need a hand sourcing safe aftermarket gear for our cars at the right price shoot me a pm, I will put you in contact with my suppliers

Last time I checked I was the most affordable source of these particular parts, which are advertised in this forum.

I guess the answer to your question Mk1_Oz is that there are varying levels of quality and fit, for different levels and lengths of performance, you can go the top shelf gear, or if your budget doesnt permit you can go the more readily available gear. For example you can buy Tierod ends and TCA's to suit Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts at Bursons for a very good price. They are aftermarket parts but still appear to be reasonable quality. You will pay 1/5th the price of the top end gear from Gartrac but its likely they will wear out quicker, not likely in 1/5th of the time but probably quicker. I ran a set of these in my Cortina for 10 years doing everything from cruises to drive days and supersprints...the car did 10000 miles and they are not worn out. They are somewhat looser(reducd preload) in the ball joint but no play and definately not a fail for a rego inspection. Hopefully this helps you make a decision[;^)] Its not all doom and gloom if you dont spend megabucks on your gear

Buying stuff locally also makes returns much, much easier.
