i blew my welded diff up this arvo (Saturday)

ill be pulling it apart 2moro to update this on what exactly i need,

but its either going to be the center let go, or an axle has snapped

all i know is it was undrivable, making horrible shudders and clunks from the rear if i tried to move it.

cheeRS!

Have had that happen plenty of times. Really fun to clean up with all that Diff oil everywhere.

Good luck with a replacement I would put a LSD centre in it now.

Sterling,

If it was welded and it blew then it wasn't welded right...

I hope the sun gears were removed from the center, before they were welded together.
Welding slag and spit will bugger the diff lap.

If you did remove the sun gears, Use some grease to check the lap between the c/w and pinion next time.

Try not to move one of the end threaded supports, it makes life easy when putting the crown wheel back in the same spot.

I have a rebuilt 3.54-1 diff center here if your desperate.

Shaun, my welds were fine lol, its the pinion gear that didn't last.

and mark, i removed the spider gears & the crown wheel, then removed the crown, and put the center in a vice and welded away.

what i think may have happened is bits of my welded center falling apart may have got chewed up by the pinion and crown...??

and in regards to the 3.54 mark, ill let you know, im trying to get the car moving again for an event Friday night, but it may not be possible
