I'm running the RX8 box in an auto tunnel mk2 escort.

It still needed some clearance with a hammer for the hydaulic master and the shift hole needed cutting further back.

assuming your Escorts running a 2L Pinto ?  .....Are you experiencing any torque probs in overdrive at 80 kph ?
.......or what speed does it feel comfortable to drop into 6th ?
.........and does she cruise for hours at 110 in 6th with no issues ?
..........and how many k's has she had the RX8 box in for ?

Oval and D port have the same torque and they all pull well from a crawl but can they sustain that much torque for long periods without over heating or excessive wear. Most 5speed conversions only drop the revs at 100k's by about 500rpm so Im not sure if it could handle a 6 speed.  Would be nice to know.

Im happy to admit Im wrong, (Im used to it!), but I doubt the Oval and D Port V6 share the same Torque figure ...................  someone here might have the figures to share, as i would be very interested to see the difference, which from memory was around 5 to 10% better in the D-port ?

Sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately i'm probably not much help when it comes to info.  The box is in a mk2 escort, auto tunnel behind a NA pinto.  It was a bit of a test run, as the box will eventually end up in another of my cars behind a turbo pinto.  I'm using a generic clutch master cylinder mounted to the firewall and attached to the standard clutch pedal.  The box is in a rally/motokhana car so I cant comment on hwy use. As for tailshaft, I am using the factory mazda carbonfibre unit. It is the right length to the standard english escort diff. I used a locating ring in the centre of the tailshaft and redrilled the diff flange to suit.  All a little agricultural, however I was originally building the as a paddoock basher using spare parts I had lying around for as little as possible.  (I think the box was more than the rest of the car combined)  There is a thread on here in the projects section mentioning the 6 speed in the title. I used one of freddys adapter plates from the UK and im using a CAE reduction starter.

So yes, not much help really, other than I'm using it and it works.... :)
