I'm interested in replacing the side linkage in my Capri since the engine has to come out. I've been reading this forum and others but don't really get a good picture of the amount of work vs the benefits of different conversions. I'd like to get an idea of the cost, the driving experience/ease of use, amount of work to convert. Particularly from people who have done the conversions.
What I have found so far have been conversions with the following gearboxes:
A.  T5 - I believe Wiggy did this conversion and cost around $1600. Needed tunnel to be cut and new tailshaft.
B.  T56 - two pictures on WWW only, no idea of cost etc.
C.  MT75 - hard to get from OS?
D.  Supra alloy case W57/58 - need to pay Dellow lots for conversion, box costs vary, cost around $2,000?
E.  Celica/Supra steel case - Suggestions that this is not quite strong enough for an upgraded wngine and vigerous driving.
F.  RX8 (UK) - Needs adaptor plate and tunnel cut for shifter, not very good ratio's. Cheapish box

Anything else?

It wasn't me who did the T5 it was Spud. I've only got side linkage in my cars at the moment.

No cutting the tunnel with a t5, need a new tail shaft
I used a dellow bell housing, hydraulic clutch.

Apart from that - the cost depends on how cheap u can get an xf box

What about a T9 with a Burtons alloy bell housing?  With the price of Dellows kits it doesn't seem to be much more to get what is needed from the UK and have a much better 1st gear.

Hi Spud.  Do you think Dellow still stock T5/GTV6 BELL HSG ?
YEARS AGO, I had to make room ,again, and a gifted XF wagon had to go, and I
couldn't live myself throwing it to SIMSMETAL without saving the A1 T5 and all its
bits n pieces.. May be perfect for my GT V6. I just hate seeing the revs so hi even at 110 let alone
at higher speeds.
Great to hear no tunnel Cutting's

I would think so. The only hassle with the dellow housing is it accommodates a hydraulic clutch
But I suppose a bit of welding to convert to a cable might be easy.
Used a burton housing - same box but behind the cologne. Might be where the cologne is positioned but it mounted the box approximately 60mm further forward

i have done the alloy supra box W58 in an escort... not sure on fitment to a capri.
it fits easily into an auto tunnel of an escort though.
used the dellow bellhousing, standard cable escort clutch with a Toyota clutch plate.
needed a different yoke on the tailsahft and the shaft length resizing. different speedo cable to fit the escort cable speedo, or new speedo if you want to use the electronic sender. fabrication of gbox mount too. i redid the hole in the floorpan for the gear selector but that depends on what lever you use in the box.

you estimation of 2K is probably about right. but it all depends on what you pay for the box.
this box cops the takumi tax being from a toyota and a popular upgrade for many drifters...
w58s with the better ratios are getting hard to find these days, especially un-thrashed ones. bit of stuffing around too.

Supra box fits without cutting - at least it did behind my v8 capri

I've bought the Hybrid MT75 from the UK for one of my cars. It's got a welded Essex V6 attachment fitted. All I need is the rubber doughnut and drive shaft modified. I think it will be perfect matched to an uprated V6. Really a work of art but cost a pretty penny. Keith
