Just realised this is to suit capri not escort.

I bought a T5 to 2L pinto bellhousing, and what a ****ing headache. Wont ever buy from them again.

They had the starter motor on the drivers side, and it would hit the steering shaft. Had to get a different starter motor and modify it all to fit. Obviously the slave is on the passenger side and they used an old cortina slave, hard to find and expensive.

Also, when getting a clutch made, the bell housing needed to be ground on the inside for the clutch to fit, which was extra $$.

Whools can you you not find and go down the Toploader track for the V8. I don't know that a five speed overdrive is what you need. Cutting your support seems dangerous to me. Go full Perana replica and you need the strong toploader.

Hi all,
does anyone know if a gasket is standard between Bell Housing and Gearbox on my 1972 V6 4 speed with external side selectors.
Funny thing I noticed: Even without gasket, the 4 "pcd" holes on the Bell Hsg, holding box to bell, are around 0.100" higher than the 5th bolt hole lower-most, that also holds box to bell................wtf?
This "distortion maker" can't be designed for real? I reckon a fibre washer is meant to go there to avoid oil leak. So if a gasket is meant to go around the other 4 box-to-bell bolts, this fibre washer for Hole 5 would need to be thicker than 0.100"...........................anybody know facts please ?
The next to useless Genuine Shop manual hasn't a single word or picture re all above !!!!!!
.......just like it DOES NOT give "end float" specs of Primary Input Shaft/Gear, and not even a picture of throwout bearing, or Throwout Lever, or specs re these items and relationship to Bell Hsg.
...........cheers for any help

the new slave allowed me to use the original extractors

clearance passengers side

for the shift - I'd chopped the top off an original shift and migged it to a tag id made

which bolts directly to the T5

the master cyl in situ - I had to modify the heater tubes to squeeze past

modification to the clutch pedal - it actuates nicely...

(the master cyl was out of a VT V8 Commodore)

for that I get a 0.72 overdrive, a nice positive short shift, a hydraulic clutch and a box that's cheap to fix, replace or modify - and if anyone (who didn't know) looks underneath - it looks very close to being original equipment - stock fittings, no cutting etc. Im thinking of ditching the 3.09 diff and putting in a 3.22 - and ill still be better off both ways (revs at 100km / acceleration off the mark)

the commodore master cyl is at top - I just unscrewed the original eye end and screwed on the ball joint pictured below - no  fabrication required

Tidy work there Spud.  I am in the process of doing a 5 speed conversion into the red MK1, was originally an auto.  I had issues with the rear mount I used an insulator and had a copy made of the mounting face.  The original mount was far too high damn cant load a photo
