Can someone help me identify what these struts are for?
The rotor guard on right is MKII RS 1980, but holes don't line up with strut.
The axle thickness is bigger than standard too from memory.
Will MKI or Capri fit better?
M16 calipers match fine.
Thanks in advance.

That's a Capri strut.. Better, lower and stronger than the escort 2.0 strut.
Hope that came with the steering arms which are different to mk1 escort 1300 struts. .

Thanks Marty.
Yes it looks to be a Capri strut. I don't have the steering arms yet, but I'm assuming that they will hook up to the Escort rack ok?
I see that they are available from Burtons.

You will need a mk1 escort rack or get 'green' tie Rod ends to hook up with ur mk2 rack.

They will but you'll need the "green" tie rods. Look on UK ebay or the usual top end suppliers like burtons etc...

With the uk exchange rate as it is , I'd be swapping rack to mk1, and is off the shelf parts . Give it a quick rebuild/tighten up while is out if you know how...

Yes I will investigate the options.
Out of interest, what is the difference in MKI MKII racks for connection?

The racks are identical to each other except the tie rod threads on the mk1 are imperial ,I think 7/16 or 3/8unf as to mk2 being M12 metric. Then there is the taper on the ball joint (tie Rod end) which locates in the steering arm on the strut , these are different which is where the problem lies of them not going in or going in loosely.
