Hi all,
 
Wondering what everybody replaces after how many kms, dont mind what engine you have, I would just like to have an idea of what to change and when.
I figured the forum would be a good place for people to know when to change things specific on different engines as I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here.
 
I change oil and oil filter every 5000km, fuel filter about every second oil change so approx 10000km.
How long should I wait to change plugs? I clean them every time I change oil but when should I be replacing them? Kind of do them whenever I think about it if I have driven for a while without changing them.
 
My car has 2L used as everyday road car and events such as motorkhanas and track days
Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou in advance

I usually do the following.
 
Engine oil and Filter every 2,500-5,000, No more then 6months ( Depends on what type of driving, ie track VS street)
G/Box oil - 10-15,000 ( or before a long trip )
Diff - same as gbox
Coolant - Every 12months (or if it gets hot for any reason)
Brake Fluid - Every 12months
Spark Plugs - When ever i service it, or do a big trip, or put it on the dyno
Fuel Filter - 10-15,000 (unless i am suspect of bad fuel)  EFI filters, carby filters may need more frequent replacing
 
Call it all a bit frequent but as im in the trade i get most oils / parts at a decent rate (or free) and my time is free. But as im either always breaking stuff of upgrading/fixing things most items will we renewed or replaced more frequently.
 
I tend not to bother with cleaning plugs, unless im out and about and desperate. At around $3 each i prefer to slot a new set in, but it all depends on how over fueled the car is ect. Longest id leave a set of plugs in a motor for would be 20,000km and even then id check the gap at 10,000.

The old 'Tina gets oils and fluids at the start of the summer cruising season and then again before she's put down for winter, so every six months and realistically every 1500km. I go by the months rather than k's as 'sitting' the car can do the same damage as a day at the track.
For a few years there I drove bunkys to work so the spent 'tina oil would go into them Now the Falcons here I do oil and filters at 10000km and box and diff every 12 months......
....as for my work truck, it gets checked every day and I just hand it over when my logbooks due and I let someone else does that one for me...........

At least once a year (I do it round christmas holidays) i disconnect battery and remove all the fuses and carefully clean with a bit of emery and bend/re-tension the holders. Find this helps to keep the electrical gremlins at bay

There are quite a few things ive overlooked in the past that have been mentioned so will get onto that asap. I reckon Im on par with engine oil, oil filter and plugs but I definitely need to pay more attention to gearbox and diff oil.
 
I hadnt ever though of going over the electricals, thats a good suggestion cheers for that
Keep the replies coming guys would like to see what others do!

My preseason also includes bleeding the brakes to clear the old fluid from the calipers. Cleaning out and tickling up the back drums was also done when i had them. Dont forget the car trailer brakes, hub bearings and grease points as it may do more km's than your toy

Im pretty much exactly the same as mish.  however, im no longer in the trade so its getting to cost a bit more haha.  
I repack hub bearings about once a year too. 
also check valve clearances before/after every time i take the 1600 out.  it is easy on that engine though.

Thanks guys, I bleed brakes a few times a year before events so probably good there
 
Greasing hubs is something I didnt think of though
 
Did valve gaps a couple days ago actually, hate doing it on my 2L, cant get to the locking nut with the spanner on cyl 3 exhaust valve, not sure how people do that bloody valve with the downdraught carb there, im lucky it wasnt out. Also have my heater hose going right over the top of the rocker cover which makes life fun taking the cover off
 
As far as valve gaps go, should I stick to what the manual says? Inlet 0.2mm and exhaust 0.25mm for the 2L it says
