Howdy,

Came across an ad on my local sites here, keen to hear if you think this would be a good upgrade for my mild 2.0. Blokes asking $300.

"This is an LSD Borg Warner Diff shortened and fitted with spring saddles to suit an Escort. It has 4 stud axles to suit the Escort wheels however they were shortened and welded so may need replacement for a high power application.

The LSD centre is fitted with 3.7 ratio gears.

I had this Diff made up about 15 years ago for a project and never used it. It has been sitting around since then and may need new bearings. The brake condition is also unknown."

Define mild...

I am in the process of building up one for my RS at the moment - simply siick of turning diffs into baby rattles.

During researching options, I have identified two primary negative effects of th BW;
1. Increase in unsprung weight, will significantly change the way the car 'feels', and
2. Absorb power - will bleed torque to drive larger gear assy.

However, on the plus side (an the reasons I decided to go with the BW);
1. Wider rage of taller diff ratios available - really handy if you live 400ks away from anything; and
2. It will be a near bullet proof rear end for anything all but the most outrageous Pintos can throw at it.....

Yes, they are good for upto about 300hp, then the LSD if used for circuit racing will fail on a regular basis. If you convert to a Kaaz LSD in the BW housing they are spot on for anything you will be able to throw at it.
Cheers,
Phil.
