Hey guys,
I am looking at purchasing and fitting a rear sway bar to my Mk1 escort 1300. The guy I'm buying it off has the D brackets to go over the diff, and they also have the D bushes mount in them. He said he did not have the sway bar link brackets, that bolt to the chassis. Can someone please post a pic of what they look like, and also tell me where i can get some.
Im also looking at a twin cam sway bar from him, for $50 and its powder coated. I'm assuming thats pretty reasonable?
Cheers

If it is an original Ford sway bay - then there are no drop links. It mountedvdirect to the chassis at the forwardvends. On the drivers side the bar just bolted through are was a solid steel rod that went through a reinforced hole in the chassis that wa otherwise unused. On the passenger side with cars with no rear bar, the reinforced hole has a solid steel rod inserted through through it that holds up the exhaust. For cars with an original sway bar, this rod was replaced with a bolt that went through the chassis rail and a custum hollow nut with an extension bar that allowed the exhaust to hang off this custom nut thing.... Make sure you get this custom nut thing and the eye mounts on the ends of the bar as the rest is easily got hold off.

But ... you would be better off saving your money for more worthwhile improvements ...

ok thanks guys. I can't remember exactly what he said the bar was off, but I'm sure he said its an RS2000 bar (possible Mk2).

phoenix, if you could take a pic, even if they aren't the same, would be good to get some idea.

the brackets appear to just be some 6mm thick angle iron that has been cut and drilled to suit....

Here's a couple of pic anyway

hey mate, thanks for the pictures. this is pretty much what i pictured in my mind about the link bolts, which are very similar set up to my XF Falcon front sway bar links, it was the brackets to the chassis that had me tossed.

No worries mate.

If your escort is anything like my capri the bolts will go straight through the chassis rails so make sure you install crush tubes in the holes when you drill them out

those pics are of an aftermarket attachment, as the factory swaybar did not have any dropimks or brackets as shown in those photos.... and the crushtubes through tthe chassis rails are there factory...
