Just get it going without one and see if you actually need it.Healthy motor shouldnt need one, unless its a dedicated race car that will spend all its life at high rpm, in that case it may beneficial.
What did you have in mind?recirculated or open to atmo.
If you decide to go with one i have couple different ones, Greddy and generic one both second hand.

A good mate of mine made a 2lt capacity square unit that fits up under the agaurd. It easy to monitor and doesnt clutter the engine bay.  It a must these days for many events if you intend to go that way

What is the difference / advantages of having the catch can with a vent as opposed to one with out?

I have been given one with no vent so if I hooked it up the breather on the oil filler plug and to the PCV valve would it work or should it realy be vented?

Cheers

Without a vent you'll still pressurise the crankcase

Hi Matt.
The air is meant to be drawn into the crank via the oil cap then evacuated from the crank case by the manifold vacuum.
The PCV line from crank case to manifold should be a sealed. The system will still work with a vented catch can but the fumes will be quite obvious (not nice in a road car)
I ran my PCV line from the crank to a sealed catch can then to the inlet manifold and used a MK1 1300 breather cap as opposed to the sealed MK2 caps which have a barb on them.
