Hi, Im new to fuel injection and want to know why I need a swirl pot for the efi system, as the standard tank and pump dont have it. I'm talking mondeo here, so with a return line and a suitable tank and pump arrangement why or do I need a swirl pot???

If its standard it should have a swirl pot in the tank.
If you don't have a swirl pot your fuel pump will suck air, killing your fuel pump slowly, and the leaning your engine out killing it.

All efi tanks will have a low point with a small sump in it. Most carby tanks will have poor fuel control when less than 1/2 a tank causing pressure fluctuations. The mk2 side tank probably would not need a surge tank if you pull from the bottom.

Is it a street car?
