Good luck. Post some pics when you get around to doing the car up.

Been on holiday, nice surpise to see a healthy response to this thread. thanks for all the info guys. Following the info contained in the file supplied by fordsy above, the max tyre and wheel widths depend on what the widest OPTIONAL tyre provided by the manufacturer was...
Now, if were talking mk2's, I would guess 185s would have been the widest offered by ford. But I stand to be corrected here...

If you skip to the 17th page of the docco, a table shows the max allowable tyre/wheel width. A 185 max factory option equates to a permitted 235 width tyre, which corresponds to a 8.5inch rim when using a tyre ratio of 65 to 85, OR a 9inch rim for tyre profiles 60 or below.
Following my naive logic, if you fitted 15 inch (diameter) wheels to accomodate some fat brakes, then you would be pretty much forced to use a 60 profile tyre, thus permitting a 9 inch rim (assuming 185 tyres were offered as an option by ford).
Fat rims under forrest arches here we come.
Does anyone have any experience in fitting larger wheels tyres under a mk2? With a 13"rim its pretty basic, but what about the bigger diameter stuff? Methinks tyre availablity/price would start to play a role here too!
And fordsy - I wont be back in AUS till bout march next year.. so the photos might take a while. Planning and dreaming is the best I can do now :)
thanks guys!
