My Mk1 is in for its second pink slip for club rego renewal (same inspector as last year) but he has decided this year, because it is complied as a 5 seater, it has to have a centre rear seat belt!! [:(!]

Now, I'm assuming he is right and it is complied as a 5 seater, but does that mean under 1974 ADR's it has to have five seat belts? Has anyone ever seen a Mk1 2dr with a centre rear belt?

If anyone has any thoughts it would be much appreciated before I go and speak with him this afternoon.

Thanks

[88] Thanks for your help guys! [:x)]

So I went in and saw him and he agreed to pass it, because he did last year. Sounds like I best find a centre belt though.

Anyone got a brown one they don't need?

Weird! My Mk1 2 door compliance plate says 4 seater. and of course no centre belt. Plus I like to see you fit 3 people in the back providing there not umpalumpas

The mk1 was originally a 4 seat car between Jan '68 to around mid '71 when it changed to a 5 seater (we all know they should only carry 2 people tho!). The middle belt is only a 2ft long lap belt and when used properly is a prang the middle person headbutts the handbrake lever!
