i just thought i would throw this out there,

the head on my "good" pinto (currently in car)

has larger intake valves, same exhaust valves, and the valve stem seal (retainers?) or whatever there called,

(things that the valve stem seal slides onto, in the top of the head)

are smaller than standard, normal valve stem seals wont fit in them.

so yeah is this like a german head? or a capri head or something?? i thought all pintos were the same...?

Maybe they have been machined down. Does it have double valve springs?

Craig.

Sterling,

Sounds like someone in a previous life has modified the head.

However,

If you remove the rocker cover you will see the casting batch codes which are cast into the top of the head. These are raised numbers and letters made when casting the head. There may also be an icon or branding too.

There will also be a round circle about 12mm in diameter raised in the casting. Inside the round circle there will be a flat (again raised) pointing to a number like the numbers around the outside of a clock.

Next time you remove the rocker cover have a look and let us know what they are.
