Undo both sections, top and bottom collar as the one you undo is always the one that is stuck. At least that way you have twice the chance!! WD40 and somtimes a pry bar to get them apart slightly can help if they are stuck, or some help with a soft hammer...

All you need to undo is the 4 bolts to the crossmember, the rack ends and the steering colomn.. It should fall down and smack you then.

undo the nyloc nut on the top of the joint, that holds the joint onto the shaft. you need to pull the bolt all the way out as well. and also the same bolt on the other side of the shaft. and remove the bolt all the way again.

undo the bottom one first. if it still wont come out undo the top one. chances are on of them will work

ok, i undone those 2 nut's and removed the bolts and still no movement. i tried pulling etc, am i missing one more nut?

No thats it. now just stick with it try soaking it in 'freeing oil' over night if need be.

Well that's a releif, what's keeping it held it? would slide hammer help? lightly used ofcourse.

try putting a lever bar in the gap to free the splines.
here but on the opposite side ( either on the top or bottom one)



it should come out pretty easy once the clamping force is relieved from the splines
