i bought the parts to do my home rebuild off a guy (iirc, interstate) and he was a professional engine builder, told me i should crate my motor off to him, but i said naa, ill do it myself.

turned out to be the smart option [B)] (sarcasm)

I have been having my motors built by the same person for years, currently building another Gp 4 Escort with a YB in it
he is in Frankston, very well respected in the VRC

PM me if you are interested & what you are looking for or if you are just after a basic rebuild I would give Edgar a call

Hi Sterling, its not that hard, have a go yourself

Take your time, get everything tested and machined by a decent shop, buy all new stuff, and bolt it together slowly but surely making sure it all absolutely clean

Dont skimp to save a few bucks, if in doubt machine it or replace it

I have a block you are welcome to for free but it needs to be bored +.060" , you would probably be better starting with a complete motor. There must be a few 2 lt cortinas still around at the wreckers ?

People will help you and you will end up with a very solid rebuilt motor

Hi Sterling,

Do it yourself!
These engines are so simple.
Just make sure everything is on spec, do all the preps, and assemble it.

Might be a good topic for discussion on the forum "How to Assemble My Engine".

We can all help you step by step through the assembly process.

Use Colin at CAM Automotive. Does my engines and is not expensive. Not only does he do top end stuff like John's BDA's but also basic stuff like crossflows and pintos. Cheers, David.

I agree. Get a gregorys manual; whilst they may not be the best manuals on the planet for rebulding and engine they are very good.

And take any parts to a machinist to be measured / ground / bored etc as required. Thats the only bit I leave to them.
