Hi all
Got 1600 x-flow to go in my mk1 (manual shell) but also have a sierra 5 speed to go in it
Now I know i have to relocate gear shifter hole, and have been told standard speedo and clutch cable are fine.
Has anyone else carried out this conversion, what else is required etc
Is it worth the work needed?

I've got no idea about putting these on a 1600, but if it isn't worth the hassle I'll buy your type 9 :)

Buy a 1600 OHC Pinto clutch plate from UK/Burtons (about 10 quid). This is the correct 7.5" diameter for the 1600 clutch and the 23 spline/1" boss for the box.
 
Use 2L escort belhhousing, clutch fork and release bearing - although it won't be quite perfect depth it will do - and what ever clutch cable you have to hand. Tailshaft from a 4 speed 2L box has correct input yoke, you may have to get it modified depending on what size diff flange you have.
 
Worth doing especially for the 5th gear.

Bought a crossflow clutch kit a few months ago, and the cluch plate actually fits the box (correct splines) so I guess all I need is a release bearing, I will measure the boss on the plate to see if it is 1". Have the original clutch fork that came with the box.
Can I buy 2lltr release bearing by itself anywhere in aus?
