I suspect my tailshaft is requiring attention as it has an annoying shudder / vibration when launching.
I replaced it years ago with an item from a wrecker, when the CV failed.
The centre wasn't servicable back then from memory.
Question is I have what I think is a MK 1 single piece tailshaft lying around not sure if it's 1600 or 2l item.
Do I run any risk installing this if it's off a 1600??

Ive been trying to fix a nasty vibration at about 100ks for a while now. By gearbox brace do you mean the crossmember or something else?

I would be 99.9% sure this is missing from mine!
Does anyone have a picture of it?

You sure it isn't a wheel or front end balance issue?

Mine too. And that will really make a difference?
Anyone got one for sale?

Spent some time looking at my Escort from underneath it!
The split prop shaft on the 2 litre is very skinny, same diameter as the 1300 single piece.
From memory my MKII Cortina 1600 I once owned, had a massive single piece shaft, around 4 inches thick.
Is there much engineering difference in the varying engine capacity prop shafts?
Why is the old Cortina so much heavier, is the Escorts simply better designed?

I have a 2 piece 2.0L prop shaft if you want it as I now have a single piece for the Celica box.
Free to collect if you want to try another shaft?

Thanks Paul I might do that. What do you want for it?
