Hi
I'm after suggestions about the best way to fit fuel return line on a mk2 escort. Should I be looking at fitting lift pump to surge tank then pressure pump and return to surge or can i get away with using the point on the fuel tank were the vapour connection to the carbon cannister is on the std set up. It's a non efi but requires efi pump and reg to drop back to carb pressure for blow thru turbo.

Or should I just get rid of the std tank, replacing it with a fuel cell

Has anyone done this B4?

Cheers

In my mk1 i have put a return in the standard side tank and run a line direct. I would run a lift pump and surge tank for piece of mind but others have not and had no problems. What tank have you got?

I've got the drop tank under the boot but it's not in the best condition. Did you braze a fitting onto the side tank or do they have one from the factory?
I'm trying to avoid a surge tank because of the need for an extra pump and youd need to return back to the fuel tank anyway wouldn't you? Not so important to run a surge tank in this application as the carbs hold a fair bit of fuel to cover any temporary lack of supply.

The factory drop tank, has a return line in the sender unit if it is an original 2Lt tank... If not swap you 1.6 sender unit for a 2Lt one that does have a reurn line... The side tank is another issue as vitually all had no return line fitted, however there is a very rare side tank sender unit that does (maybe a early 1.6 Ghia that had the 2V Weber carb)... Speakinbg Mk2 Escorts here...

Thanks for the replies.

Mines originally a 1980 Escort MK2 BC 1600

What's the best way to get at the sender unit to have a look? Drop the tank onto the floor?

Climb under the car and have a look just behind where the diff centre is on the front of the tank... If there are 2 pipes coming out, one is a return line, and if you have only 1, then you don't...

Thanks for that. Mines just a single, on the case trying to source one with a return
