ive got a 2600cc rodeo engine, its got a 1600 manifold on it, and gemini 1600 carby, as u can imagine it was very very slow,

i put a weber adaptor, and put a 32/36 on the manifold

and it was definately improved, but still quite slow.

so, what would be the best idea to feed the (somewhat) "monster" of a 4 cylinder??

looking for bang for buck, as the injection setups/systems usually sell for around the $2000 mark..yeah not to keen on that.

i was thinking maybe a 45/48 sidedraft with a 32/36 adaptor?

(to convert the sidedraught induction to vertical induction, so that it could sit on the stock manifold?)

going to a track, drifting practise in mount waverly soon, would love to take the escort, but i may not be able too, (id settle for the 50hp wagon, but as u can imagine the escort would be way more fun[:x)] )

yep!

was trying to keep it quiet cuz i know how many dissaproving looks i will get, but heres how i sum it up,

escort motor conked it, 12month old rebuilt rodeo motor sitting in the shed, gemini box, rodeo clutch, stuffed gemini engine, pretty much all the gear was sitting there.

so before i new it i had an almost cost free engine swap.

(YES I KNOW ITS NOT THE IDEAL ENGINE TO PUT INTO A FORD ESCORT BUT COME ON GUYS, DONT HATE) lol

still needs a few things before i consider it 100% done, but yes it does run and drive!

will be looking into a lower diff soon too, maybe a 3.54, because even with 5 gears its still revving its t*ts off at 100 due to the 3.77.

but back on subject, any other ideas?

smiley, that has crossed my mind, but its not the type of thing that could be done anytime soon, and the tuning costs would be astronomical.

any idea where to buy the sidedraught converters?

are you sure it's the carby that's making it slow, it's probably slow no matter what carby you throw at it, probably need attn somewhere else by the sounds of it, compression ratio, cam, exhaust and a tune, it's probably just slow compared to the pinto [%]

haha yeah, the old pinto was a monster, loved it, but in all seriousness, when u drive a manual rodeo, then hop into the rodeo escort, its like having a 1300 thats just really loud lol..

the ignition timing doesn't seem to like being and less advanced than about 12 degrees, so its sitting on like 15 or so at the moment. which is weird. but yeah, because it was running fine with the weber, used to cough if u floored it while the revs were low, but other than that it was fine. just, slow lol.

You cant use a sidw draft as a down draft so forget that. What about injection of a later shizuzu?

Oh and the other obvious question, how are you going about an engineers report coz your insurance aint worth squat without one

yeah i ment the convertors that you attach a sidedraught too, and the carby still sits sideways, but the manifold attachment, bends on a 90degree angle and bolts to the top of the manifold,

but anyway, i did a very spontanious thing Saturday morning, found a local guy selling a 350 holley, and i went to autobarn and bought a 350 holley to Holden 202 manifold adaptor, and with the help of a drill and some handy tools i got it to sit neatly ontop of the 32/36 adaptor, which sits on the gemini manifold.

bolted up the 350 holley, made a custom throttle setup, STILL using the escort cable, and she fits perfectly in the bay, keeping in mind im also, STILL using the original escort remote booster setup.

did get it running, and it hesitates under full throttle (under load) and idled at like 1500rpm, due to the throttle cable not being adjusted perfectly yet.

but i experienced a great silver lining, because from what i can tell this thing has got alot of torque. release the clutch and the thing chirps the tyres from the welded diff and throws itself forward like a scalded cat! but once it gets to like 3-4000rpm she starts to hesitate.

ive already learen't enough to not try and tune myself, going to trailor this puppy to the local dyno shop.

yeah went under a alter ego pretending the engine was in a gemini in order to get a distributer that will operate without an efi system. hence to run carbied..[88]

got qouted $200 for a dyno tune which sounds pretty damn good!!
