I noticed on the weekend my car doesn't have a fuel filter on it, so I was going to put one on.

I am just wondering what is the best spot for it. I was thinking before the fuel pump to stop any crap before it gets in there, but is a stock 1300 pump able to draw through a filter? Or is it better to put the filter in the line between the pump and the carby?

Pete,

It depends on the type of fuel pump. The standard mechanical pump is a diagphragm pump, so it is less susceptible to crud in the fuel. In this situation a fuel filter between the pump and carbies will suffice.

On the other hand, if you have an electric fuel pump, such as a Carter rotary pump, then you will need to install a high quality filter between the fuel tank and the pump so as to stop and crud in the fuel eroding the rotor.

Cheers,

Thanks Peter,

Its just the standard mechanical pump, not the glass bowl type though. I think I'll put it in after the pump, that way it might be easier to get at to check too.

Cheers,
Pete.
