I saw this in the Courier today.

Just signed up as the driver of a top level entrants crew truck! He's got a tarmac rally developed 4WD R32 GTR V-Spec Skyline with a lazy 600hp at the wheels. 4 days of cars, hills, and fun times!

Highly recommend interstate enthusiasts coming over for this...Adelaide is a great place to watch historic tarmac rally from.

yep fantastic to hear. nothing like having a rally on your doorstep, seeing some good action on the roads i usually hit up.

No disrescpect but whern it was "Classic Adelaide" it was fantastic, ran there 10 years ago. All went downhill when they let modern cars run. Not sure what is Classic about 600hp of R32 Skyline

I agree. You use to walk around the cars and wonder what the bloody hell is a brand new HSV doing in the competition or brand new Ferrari.

I'm happy to embrace the 600hp 4x4 flame spitting japanese road monsters......for one very good reason......they provide entry $$$$ that make events like the Classic Targa Adelaide a financially viable proposition. I'm stoked that the guys who do Targa Tassie are doing this event...not like clowns that were running Classic Adelaide - what a bunch of useless biased idiots they were.

I'm sure the well developed Classic classes will make the right impression, but to make an event soley sustainable on side draught sucking twin cam Escorts and Cortina's is a laughable notion these days.....I am over the moon that the event has returned to Adelaide in a revised format, and I am also happy knowing that amongst the hated top end EFI turbo cars there will be a nice array of older Clasic Fords....some of them might even teach the Jap car drivers a thing or two.

No question that it is fantastic for Adelaide, No question that Octagon run fantastic events and have the financial and organizational skills to run a successfull rallys. Where the previous events went downhill in my opinion as a competitor, (we were in an alloy 2L engined BDA Mk1)was that the event became all about the "tour" entrants. Those in the competition section, paid and subsidised the rest of the event. The cut off date is interesting as they are actually not running the same classes as Targa High Country or Targa Tas. I've driven an R32 on the track, and they are awesome weapons, just not quite a classic car yet, 20 years time maybe. Hopefully I'll be there in a mk1 Lotus Cortina, cheers Ted
