I have had some wheels and a bonnet done by a local panel shop and they are freaked.... do not want to get bent over again by panel beaters.

I was going to use them to paint the inside of the car and roll cage.

Anyone who is handy with spraying two pack who wants to earn $30 a hour prepping and painting on a weekend(s)? Either have own gear or I can organise something. Or can trailer can to your booth?

Am I asking too much?

You may struggle at that price to find a painter that is both good & reliable.
All the painters i know wouldn't take on a job at that price if they had to supply a booth & decent materials.
Have you tried going back to the place that did the parts for you & tell them you arent happy? Any reputable shop wouldn't like having an unhappy client.

$30 an hour cash in hand and I will pay for booth and materials.

This is too low?

My painter wouldn't bother answer the phone if he thought you were only offering $30 an hour. Not trying to talk him up or be a smart ass just the way it is these days. At the end of the day if you pay the extra it will go along way towards the person actually caring about his/her workmanship.

Try the local TAFE, the one in Dandenong did a great job painting one of my daughters cars after she pranged a few years ago for the cost of the paint only

From memory she had to wait a while but the price was as good as you can get

They even fixed my average panel repair job before they painted it

You could pay someone $30 an hour and they could work REALLY slow to the point it would have beehn better to pay someone $60 an hour and they do it in half the time.

What you pay for IS what you get.

Sorted fellas.

Appreciate the thoughts.

$10,000 for an escort paintjob is about 200 hours work - not far off $30 (once you have taken out tax) an hour IMO.

Didn't think i was being as tight an ass as you all made me feel.

Plenty of people would do $30 an hour, just got to ask the right person, for a cage and interior paint job i dont think it's that tight. I know a couple of people who would do it in Newcastle.

Me trying to get things done for free is tight [:x)]
