Either the plastic carrier for the bearing has collapsed or the locating tab on the fork has broken

Cheers Phil the tabs still there but the carriers melted.Is this a known weak spot and are there better setups available?

Use a metal carrier and problem solvered.
Not sure which models came orignally with what, but there is metal and plastic versions.

Looks to me like the bearing has seized and the carrier been spinning in the clutch fork. I'm with Rhys on this one though. Metal carrier all the way.

Where is the best chance to find metal carrier. Burtons do a alloy one but its 8mm longer. Can you get them new?

When replacing mine recently I had a plastic version supplied in the kit. I very quickly chucked it and used a metal version.

The metal version is the more original.

My reasoning was there is enough crappy plastic in Escorts already.

The flat faces bearing, needs to be used with the rounded finger pressure plate.

Santa. Check your other post i've written the problem and solution in there for you, I still use the nylon carrier bearing and now have no dramas.

To much canning it may be ----have a look at the top end on the fork where it locates on the the gear box they some times flog out he cast iron on the gear box these can be repaired with a bolt ( tap a hole in the gear box ) and a penny washer for a seat or make one and bent it to shape so it locks in place ---

and use a steel Carrier
