my twin dellortos started running poorly recently, so i pulled them off and put the standard carby back on, upon removing i noticed 2 screws are missing from one carby, but are present on the other, just wondering what purpose they serve?

on the first carby (from left), just above the second trumpet, there are 2 screws, both with flat heads.

They were originally Alfa carbs. The screws were used to hold an idle solonoid on the Alfas. Definately not the cause of your problems.

engine still doesnt run too well with the standard carb, but i wont mess with it, im just saving to put the twins back on and get a dyno tune.

If they're Gdub's old carbs they shouldn't need much of a tune, think your problem may be elsewhere,
