Is this a DIY job or something one should get done professionally?

The window tint on the Escort is very old, scratched and peeling in places. I want to remove it, I don't particularly like it on classics anyway.

My concern is scratching the glass if I try to remove it myself, but mostly the heater lines on the rear window, which aren't connected but I would prefer not to destroy them altogether.

Should I get it done professionally, or is there any easy way to do it?

I've read using a fabric steamer is fairly easy and safe, thinking of giving it a try.

Pro's use a steamer, get all the glues off.

I have removed it before and surprisingly enough, a razor blade will get the glue off and not scratch your window. Doesn't help you with the rear, but you might be able to do all the sides yourself and just pay to have the rear done.

yeah razor blade and that orange gunk remover (de solvit or similar). Then metho to clean.

Don't know about the rear though.

Might sound really weird, but brake fluid works wonders.
Does need a few minutes soaking though.

Brake fluid won't wreck the rear window heater either.

Clean up with turps or metho then water.

If you dribble the brake fluid remember it is water soluable.

Thanks for the tips. I was way too scared to use brake fluid so I tried the steaming method, and fortunately it worked well.
