Mine has got enclosed sides on it and you drop the battery into it and the clamp slides into a slot between the base and the wall. But what you have there look similar in terms of the bracketry etc.

Find yourself a Ghia and steal the battery holder from that - it will bolt straight in (Factory instal at that)

??
i had to cut my tray out of my engine bay. hows it bolt in?
dont know what happened to it though, hope its in the shed somewhere

James, David W is referring to the Ghia with factory air con installed. They mounted the battery in the boot to make more room. Rare as hens teeth though.

Craig.

Even harder to find without the bottom rusting away.
This is the factory ghia type.

Yep, thats the factory one with the enclosed sides. My first car was a 2 litre Rally Pack with factory air and it had that battery box.

I'm pretty sure its the factory air cars that have it, rather than specifically Ghias, since the air con compressor in the engine bay needed the extra room, so the battery had to be moved.

Yep, that sounds right to me. The Ghia I wrecked didn't have Air Con. and had the battery mounted under the bonnet in the normal spot.
