Hi All,

Has anyone got any pics of their battery-in-boot install?
I'm in the process of doing it now and need some inspiration!![%]
Its for a 1978 MK2 Escort 2dr, was originally 1.6 but now 2.0 with floor mounted fuel tank.

I'll probably mount the battery in the drivers side wheel well, but that is starting to look a bit complicated

Thoughts\pics?

Find yourself a Ghia and steal the battery holder from that - it will bolt straight in (Factory instal at that).

I can't give you pics right now as my car is 3 hours away, but if you look at the drivers side well- you can feel the holes on the vertical piece. Might have to drill a couple of holes in the bottom piece.

Thanks David, I'll pop down to the wrecker and see what he has.

Whooligan,
I like the install, didn't think of putting it there. If i can't find the Ghia mount i might look at doing the same.
Just out of interest, who welded up the brackets for the surge tank?
I have a TIG welder, but it can't do aluminium..[V]

I mounted mine in the drivers side wheel well. I made up a frame so the battery would sit level and bolted it in.

I ran the cables through the hole in the bottom of the wheel well.

Mine looks identical to Craigs, I also drilled a 25mm hole in the side of the well and used a nylon cable gland for the cable to exit thru.

Thanks heaps for your pics guys
I tried ringing around for the GHIA battery mount but no luck.
Looks like its the angle-grinder\mig combo for this particular job!!

James, David W is referring to the Ghia with factory air con installed. They mounted the battery in the boot to make more room. Rare as hens teeth though.

Craig.
