Hi Paul,
I have seen your upgrades, they look to be very popular over the years on the forum.
I was hoping to be able to keep the system relatively simple and semi original up to a point.
I'm just waiting on some replacement hubs to come in, then the front upgrade can go in.
It does look like the pads used for this kit are common Volvo fitment.
(I have a spare set of EBC pads from Burtons is they are of use to anyone)

If it still doesnt pull up with rebuilt drum end, I might need one of your kits then Paul

Hi Paul, sorry didnt see your post.
The spare pads are EBC, but they are ÉBC Standard Road"' (Burtons # DP143) Volvo 4 Pot.

help needed from the brainstrust please..
Issue: I cant get brake pedal on the first stroke, it goes to the floor, and you get peddle say 1/2 way on second stroke.
What was done: Installed the HiSpec 4 Pot M16 kit pictured above:Which uses the Volvo 4 pot disks, HiSpc braided lines, new rear drum slave cylinders, same shoes, new flexible hose at diff, and new Protex master cylinder, which is a repo of the std Girling OEM master cylinder.
All of the above was fitted, master cylinder bled, then each circuit bled using a hand vacuum bleeder, rear, then each of the front, inside and out.No leaks, and no fluid loss.
The rear drums activate, the fronts also will grip, but theres no peddle pressure, it goes to the floor. You can get it pumping, on the second or so pump. Thinking logically, is it because the fronts have now gone from 2 pot to 4, each side, and the OEM master cylinder cant displace enough fluid? The first pump goes part way to pressing the disks out, then the second finished the stroke/pressure?
I'm sure you guys will know by by common knowledge, if this would be reasonable cause or not.
Marty Mexico I think you mentioned above that you have used this type of arrangement with std MC?
I checked my Capri manual, and std bore size fro the Girling is 0.813"'.
Theres nothing in the HiSpec kit, I was hoping this was a common/basic upgrade, without the need for changing the system extensively, especially as the M16 is common between models.
I'll research more for info, but am I barking up the right tree do you think?
Thanks in advance

^^10 points that man!
A trap for young players.
It seemed natural that the bleed nipples point down, but no, air bubbles rise apparently (plus the rear drum slave bleeders point up also of course)
Swapping over this morning...

Interested to see how they go once bled up right!

Do these fit under 13s?

ta da, we have maximum stoppage.

Who would have thought that putting the calipers on upside down would make a difference?
So I turned the calipers with the bleeders up, bled each side inner and outer, and once I'd done each one, the peddle immediately had maximum hard pressure at about 1/2 stroke, with the car off.
Just to be sure, I re-bled the fronts one more time, topped up, and went for a drive proper for the first time in about 3 years.

I have never had the car stop as well in 30 years of owning. It stops straight, isnt locking, it just stops dead, to the point that there is now a few more dints in the fuel tank from a couple of tools I threw in the boot, that flung forward during some tests.I have no fear of not being able to pull up in time.

To confirm, the standard original master cylinder does not need changing. The kit comes with 2 spacers that perfectly centre the calipers on the wider disks. Your flexible hose needs changing because the caliper uses banjo style connection. The only change is you need to remove the dust plate, as it cant be used with the wider calipers.
Nothing is bedded in properly yet, but so far, very happy.

Robbie I currently have 14's on the car, but they will fit under 13's, I used the same diameter disk.
Probably didnt need to go ventilated (or slotted), but hey, why not?

Thanks to Ratta Tat Tat for coming up with some good hubs!

Now that it stops, time to make it go..
