I've heard that stripes and roo were optional, and car yards at times were the ones to add them to the gt models.
Question being if left the factory, not to be added later, does the gt badge still stay above wheel arch
Stripes and Superoo decal and bonnet blackouts were optional when ordered at the dealers and, if not fitted from the factory (quite rare), the GT badge (used only on the 3000GT) was moved to the back rear quarter position on the 3000GT models instead of above the rear wheel arch.
With regard to the "Eleven Specials" that Bernie is talking about, only those that had no stripes would have had the GT badge moved to the rear quarter position. Most, as I understand it and having seen a few, all have the stripes, Superoo decals and bonnet blackouts, except for Bernie's. All those 'Specials' with stripes, still retained the GT badge above the rear quarter arch! The only Capri that had a GT badge, front or back, was the RS3100 which had 'Capri GT' on the right hand side of the boot. As Bernie correctly states, there were never GT badges on the front or the back of the 1600GT or the 3000GT Capri.
The 1600GTs only had a GT decal on the fuel filler flap, and on the opposite side 'C' pillar, as well as on the front mudguards behind the front wheel, where it said 1600GT. Only those 1600GT models with no stripes had the additional GT badge in the rear quarter position, these were separate G and T badges as used on the XT Falcon ('C' pillar), otherwise none at all, certainly not above the rear wheel arch.
Welcome to 2020 I hope everyone has a great year!
