BEE VEE
Hi Reeni.

From memory, the GT Badge always is placed perpendicularly above the rear wheel arch for

V6 GT's and 1600 GT's, EXCEPT in the case of the "Eleven Specials" that were built circa 09/72,

in which case the same GT Badge is placed approx half way between the rear arch and rear tail lamp,

viz : in same position where the XL Badge would have gone on non-GT models.

I will stand corrected if memory has let me down.

Like some GT Falcons, i would have preferred an extra GT Badge at front and rear as well, but as this was not

in the factory design, I refrain from fitting them, as I do prefer keeping to Factory Standard unless safety

improvements are involved, like brakes or seat belts.

Happy New Year to you and all members in this Forum.

Kindest regards,

Bernie

I've heard that stripes and roo were optional, and car yards at times were the ones to add them to the gt models.
Question being if left the factory, not to be added later, does the gt badge still stay above wheel arch

Stripes and Superoo decal and bonnet blackouts were optional when ordered at the dealers and, if not fitted from the factory (quite rare), the GT badge (used only on the 3000GT) was moved to the back rear quarter position on the 3000GT models instead of above the rear wheel arch.
With regard to the "Eleven Specials" that Bernie is talking about, only those that had no stripes would have had the GT badge moved to the rear quarter position. Most, as I understand it and having seen a few, all have the stripes, Superoo decals and bonnet blackouts, except for Bernie's. All those 'Specials' with stripes, still retained the GT badge above the rear quarter arch! The only Capri that had a GT badge, front or back, was the RS3100 which had 'Capri GT' on the right hand side of the boot. As Bernie correctly states, there were never GT badges on the front or the back of the 1600GT or the 3000GT Capri.
The 1600GTs only had a GT decal on the fuel filler flap, and on the opposite side 'C' pillar, as well as on the front mudguards behind the front wheel, where it said 1600GT. Only those 1600GT models with no stripes had the additional GT badge in the rear quarter position, these were separate G and T badges as used on the XT Falcon ('C' pillar), otherwise none at all, certainly not above the rear wheel arch.

Welcome to 2020 I hope everyone has a great year!

Reeni. The picture you showed in the Hello thread of the wheel arch with no paint of your car clearly shows what type of Capri it is. Yours is definitely a V6. The 4cyl has less strength in that area. Yours could have been a delete model or maybe rear quarters replaced. Really doesn't matter but yours is a genuine V6 unless the whole of of the cars panels were replaced.

You also had the Capri deluxe model the base Capri from 1970. Which I think had a badge on rear quarter ( maybe only on front wing?) It was a bigger badge. Your car is a V6 though. Personally you are putting doubt on your car and stress on yourself not showing the detail. We need a pic of where the battery is fitted and where the heater Bubble sits also as you showed under the front wheel arch towards front of car ( you've shown that now and it's V6) hope that helps. Happy New year to you and all on here. Keith

I’ve inspected the car, and it’s a genuine v6.

XL (not XXL) capri is the 4 cyl capri that used to be the 1600GT but they changed the name after the V6 began selling.  The Summer Gold GT V6 capri owned by Originality was a Delete Option but had the bonnet patch and stripes added at his request

its a GT badge (in one badge), put in the big area of the rear quarter panel-not over the wheel arch.  the badge yu seek has no black extension around the T.

You still got black sills and beaver panel.

In other words the xy badge is not correct.  You can get very nice correct repro badges for $35 on ebay.

Theres a well worn red V6 GT that gets around in Perth with the plate 'CRAPI' always makes me smile
FOMOCO sounds good, you may be able to swap the letter O with the number 0 if its already taken.
Do they re-issue the original plates over there? Really like that original look myself.
Cheers Drew
