Hi all ,
We continue to remove all paint, to find that rear quarter panels have been replaced. We can at this stage only assume that all of its running gear and panels originate from the one car.
Were curious to learn other than a gt badge, are any other badge used on rear quarter panels.
The gt badge that was fitted to this car do not cover the distance, our holes have been drilled at 60mm . And sat above the rear wheel arch.
The ones in question sitting further back, are drilled at 95mm apart.

Reeni, badges that sat further back on the rear quarter panel included the G and T badges, if the car had the delete option (these were also used on the XT Falcon GT on the C pillar) and another pair of letters, used in the same position, were X and L. To my knowledge these badges were all separate, so G & T or X & L, as opposed to GT and XL, together as one badge. see example attached

Reeni dont panic ! ..............  when all is said and done, you still have a rare and much loved Australian assembled car for the Australian Market, and thus sits in the Category of an "Australian Classic" , regardless of its engine and gearbox if they are same as original Pinto and correct Box.
Some Capri owners would give half their liver for such a rust free body as yours Capri appears to be !

Reeni -  what is the model code from the compliance plate?  e.g. 13018 is a 1970 V6 GT, 13118 is a 1971 V6 GT, 13014 is a 1970 Deluxe.

The chassis number is CK17LP23832P so the Model no. should be 13118.

If you post some pics of the inner guards in the engine bay people here will be able to tell you from the pressings if its a 4cl or 6cyl shell.

Hi all,
if it's Model # 13228, can that be only a 1972 GT V6, or was that number allocated to the Dport Specials, or both ?
thanks

Model code 13228 does not exist.
The model code for 1972 GT V6 is 13218 and the engine code remains the same for oval or 'D' port engines, ie. P=V6, as per your Vehicle ID Plate.

Broken down, this 13218 code means 13=Capri (Ford Vehicle ID), 2=1972 (Model Year), 1=2 Door (Body Style) and 8=GT Sedan (Model Type).

Note/s: the third digit can be a '9' for 1969, a '0' for 1970, a '1' for 1971 or a '2' for 1972 and,
the fifth digit can be a '4' for 'Deluxe' Sedan, a '6' for 'XL' Sedan or an '8' for GT Sedan.

Was meaning to also ask if this speedometer was also likely have to be changed? And if so from which mk would it have come from. 140mph looks high to what I've seen on line.

Reeni, the GT/V6 model had a 140mph speedo (as you showed in your photo above) along with a tacho that redlined at 5800rpm. The tacho should also have V6 showing in the middle of the gauge, down the bottom. See photo attached. The 1600GT and XL models, had a 120mph speedo and the tacho on these models redlined at 6000rpm.
