Hi Guys,
This pains me beyond belief.
I have a number of projects I need to finish off, and need money to do so. To that end I need to investigate the option of selling my RS2000, that I have only just finished a fairly decent restoration on.
I haven't been able to figure out how much to advertise it for, so am looking for suggestions, and hopefully expressions of interest to buy the car.
Details of vehicle:
Currently the car has a club permit, and in actual fact has only recently obtained a full RWC. Getting a full road registration for it should not be too hard at all.
The car is pretty much completely stock.
1980 Mk2 RS2000 2 door in original Snow White.
Interior:The interior has been fully restored.
All new foams in both front scheel seats
Full retrim using Aldridge trims from the UK (front and back seats)
All new carpet
Car has been fully dynamatted inside, with underlay as well.
Has a very basic Alpine head unit
No front speakers, meaning no speaker holes in door trims
Dash pad is completely original, and has one very small crack in it (about 1cm in length)
Switch panel is NOS with some NOS Switches.
Center Console is straight and in excellent condition.
Brand new heater core.
Rewound fuel sender meaning the fuel gauge is accurate.
The dash has an air-conditioning vent in it from the previous owner. It doesn't look too bad but is not hooked up to anything.
Engine Bay / Driveline:The engine has been removed and rebuilt to completely original specs. It is not oversize and has had no modification work done to it. It has all new bearings, new rings, valve stem seals etc etc....fully overhauled.
The engine bay has been repainted in snow white.
Original air filter sitting on top of a weber 38/38 capri carby.
I have a full set of repro engine bay stickers to go on, I just haven't put them on yet.
I have zinc plated (yellow chromate) many of the nuts and bolts in the engine bay.
Heater bubble has been fully removed, repaired, and replaced.
There is no rust whatsoever in the engine bay, or heater plenum area.
All rust has been removed from the fuse box area, and replaced with a mint condition fuse box metal section.
Underside of the bonnet has also been repainted in Snow White.
Standard cast iron exhaust manifold
Standard exhaust.
Standard MK2 4 speed gearbox with standard MK2 RS2000 shifter.
The car had air conditioning it in when I got it, so there are a few very inconspicuous holes where air-conditioning plumbing user to run. I had planned to get grommets for these holes but am yet to do this.
All reproduction grommets (peter lytton)
Exterior:The exterior of the car is very original. I have not done work to the exterior.
There are some minor rust bubbles around the metal section at the bottom of the windscreen
There is some rust at the base of the rear windscreen.
Small bubbles starting to appear at the base of the wheel arches.
C Pillars are perfect, no rush to be seen at all.
15 inch minilites with brand new tyres (in all honesty the tyres haven't even done 300 km's)
Peter Lytton reproduction rear spoiler.
NOS "Ford" boot badge
Brand new front Windscreen
Headlight Protectors.
General:Everything works. All gauges work, and all lights work. I have spent a lot of time getting this car to this standard. If I had the time and money I would keep it and do the exterior as well.
The car had air conditioning when I got it, which I removed. I still have the parts (the condenser and switches are not in perfect condition), which I am happy to give to the new owner. The compressor, mounting brackets, receiver dryer etc are all still there.
I am very fussy with my cars, and would rate the above areas as follows, (where I rate a new car as 10/10.....)
Interior: I would rate this interior (factoring in age etc) as 9/10 for presentation and originality.
Engine Bay: I would rate this engine bay as 9/10 for presentation and originality.
Exterior: Where I would rate many of the escort I have seen (rust in all the usual places) at around 4/10, I would rate this exterior at 6.5/10 (again I am very fussy).
I have photos of all work done to the car, which I can share with anyone interested.
Id like to hear from anyone interested in purchasing the car, without insulting me with silly offers. Don't worry, I don't offend too easily, but I do expect people to be respectful of the time and effort I have put in, as well as the uniqueness of this car.
Please see below for presentation photos.

Not happy Jan.
