What size tyres are u using?
This will impact the final gearbox/final drive choice.
I personally prefer quick acceleration to outright top end speed.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Cheers

I guess you got your hands on a Type 9 then.
Try www.gearboxman.com.uk they have a gear/ speed calculator  the only problem it is in MPH. you can input different ratio's  and tyre sizes  to see which suits you.

No gearbox purchased as of yet. I'm just exploring the options and these two are prob the best choice for me.
 Tyre size is 195/45/15
At the moment with this rolling diameter, 4.125 diff * , 1:1 final drive. Top speed using my Navman is 135kph at close to edit*[6]000rpm .
I have been playing around with GearCalc v2.0.0.3 but it says 145kph at 5700rpm which is 10kph faster than my road tests. Maybe my diff gear is 4.4?? I'm yet to remove it and confirm ratio.

Maybe your tacho is out of wack ! GT tacho's are known to read way faster than actual revs. At 7k you should be pegging about 105mph/170kmh at a guess..

If its a proper 2000e with the close ratios I would use that over the 5 speed every day. If you aren't too fussed by top speed then run the 4.11 as well.

Cheers fellas.
Yeah Marty I meant 135kph at close to 6000rpm sorry.
If these calculators are accurate then I suspect I have a 4.44 ratio. From what I read, it's a lucky dip with Mk1 ratios.  Manuals are really just a guide, diff gear needs to be removed to tell. I might have a bit of time this week to fit the 3.77 and get front susp installed. Fingers crossed

But not before I take a video of the highly inaccurate speedometer, then upload to youtube for some street cred!
