has any body else had problems with lowered king spring (1600 MK 2 van) 
 
firstly i got them powdercoated to the colour i wanted and then ive installed the new springs but now every time i turn the steering wheel, you can hear the spring move with knocking noises 
 when i installed the springs i didnt even had to compressed them
any way to fix this

if you have standard strut tops, try torquing the strut insert nut to specification(or slightly less), common mistake is to do these up too tight.Some lube at strut top goes a long way too. 
This also helps the steering effort.

If the springs are short they will need to be clamped into the platforms at top and bottom. Not hard to make some slots and then use hose clamps

yeah i have standard tops and ive tighten them to specified  torque to the escort manual and has pedders inserts, the kings springs say they are 30mm lower than standard but i feel they are far to low
 
i may end up going back to standard as the 14in dragways that i just bought new not long ago scrap all the time so i had to get standard wheels for the front and still the guard hangs over the tyres which are 165 70 13
 
the body is 1600 but has a 2 ltr now if that makes any difference

If your springs are for the 1.6 struts then they are too soft for a pinto as the pinto without its cast iron head is heavier than a complete Kent with the head. When I converted my car years ago I did the struts first (changed to 1" lowered 2lt struts/springs) and it stayed 'normal height. The next weekend I put the pinto in an it lowered the front back to it proper 1" lower height - so the reverse is what you have done and with the pinto engine and Kent springs it is probably around 1" lower than it should be (ie should be 30mm but will be more like almost double that....)
Does that make sense? You will probably find the front springs quite soft too...
