Hi everyone once again. I would like to lower the back end of my escort but have been told blocks that i order in from Autopro are going to cost me $109.55. Now to me that is too much, but what I have been asking myself, are most lowering blocks universal?? Would I be better to hit up ebay and go from there or should I stop being a jew and spend the money at Autopro.

Stop being a jew and buy new springs or half a jew and reset the springs

Another consideration for you is whether you can get the car registered in your State/Territory with lowering blocks fitted. If you're in SA or Victoria you'd be right but may not be elsewhere. Mickas has suggested the better solution.

you can get them on ebay for around $60-70 sometimes.

The ones on ebay are cast, not extruded aluminium. Extruded blocks are much stronger and safer. I just bought some for $109. Make sure you get the right pin size. Mk1 Escorts have 25mm locating pin and cut-out. Not sure about MK2.

Why not do it properly and reset and reverse the eyelet's, you'll be amazed the difference it makes. I'm a big fan of doing things properly the first time, After 30 years its probably long overdue for a major overhaul.

I had 2" blocks under teh back of my RS2 for a couple of years and have just taken them out because of guard rubbing. I ordered a set of 1" blocks from a local auto parts store they were $88. In regards of rego, I had no problem at all when the yearly lookover came round. Paint 'em black and ensure nothing it touching you should be ok.

About $150 if you pull them out yourself and take them in.

pull the springs apart clean them up with a flap disc or 2 ----and use a BIG block of wood and a BIG Hammer have them at about 70 degree C and flatten them out a bit --- there is a hammer for this

and then paint them
The springs out of the Vans have 4 leaves and are stronger
