Hi Guys
Next job for me is to renew the suspension. The car is now so low that it is bottomed out so I want to raise it but not all the way to original. Maybe and inch or 2 lower than standard. Also want a smooth ride, so dont want it to be too stiff.

Any ideas for a nice combination of springs and inserts. Also any recommendations for adjustable strut tops and rear shocks.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve.
There seems to be limited choice for off the shelf suspension mods for capri in Australia. Not surprising since early capris are not mainstream stuff here. Much easier to own falcon/Holden but who wants to aye?
Having said that a company like king springs can set you up with lowish coils and leafs. The main choices for shocks are monroe gas for low cost standard type, to gaz or koni for fast road. The latter two are adjustable so can be set up to suit your favourite driving area. Apart from this, good quality bushes thruout and some kind of front end adjustment like noltec strut tops should get it all working well.
Me? Well all Ive done so far is put good quality bushes thruout, a 24mm anti sway bar(which also has a castor adjusting capability) and monroe inserts with standard strut tops. I want to get the car thru roadworthy and registered before changing too much.

Thanks.
I this is only a street car so the Monroe will probably do but I do want it a bit lower than original.

Any ideas what height the kings springs will give at the front?

I also want adjustable camber. Any recommendations on where to get the noltec strut tops from?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,

I am going through the front & rear as we speak & have puchased new Koni shocks for front & rear, front 24mm Whiteline swaybar & new lower control arms & all new bushes, I have 2 sets of springs 1 set of King & the other I am not sure of but both sets are lower than standard.
I was thinking of the Smcka strut tops but I am concerned about raising the height 20mm so I am not sure yet but I would be interested in what other think of them.
Your welcome to come have a look at the car when we put it back together.

Kev.

Only reliable way to find out the spring heights is to give kings a call. Most aftermarket strut tops have the effect of raising the ride height 10 or more mm so allow for this. Capri clinic have the noltec style of tops and they are good because both caster and camber can be adjusted independantly of one another while in situ.
Their pricing is a bit scary tho.

Wilkinson Suspension bought out Noltec & sell there's for $480.00 of which I think is scary but not as scary as Kmac units !!!
