Is there any performance gain when using the GT weber & manifold on a standard (non-GT) 1600 xflow? In conjunction with 4/2/1 extractors
thanks

My 1600 has a 32/36 xf falcon down draft webber and that seems to go pretty good. I have twin 40s dellortos to put on but the bloody brake booster is in the way.

so you noticed a gain when going from the single choke to twin ay.

I don't think a pair of twin choke dellortos will give much on a standard engine. probably worse than the 32/36

It was a long time ago that i put the weber on but yeah i think there was a slight increase in power especially when the second butterfly opens up at full throttle. You are probably right about the twins but a thought it would be worth a try putting em on as i had them lieing around. I could always go back to the 32/36.

Well that does make things easy

I have a single 40mm weber on a side draft manifold (clears the booster) that I want to put on. I'm starting to think it'll be okay on the standard 1600.

Hi m8, definitely a 32/36 & manifold is very good choice. If you recall, MK1 Mexicos used exactly that carb and manifold. [^]

yes there is, but use a big air clear you need that increase in air flow,

Not sure of Aussie rules...but booster not a prob for side drafts, just lower it, seems complicated but quite easy to do.

The mexicos also had a different cam & larger exhaust valves too didn't they?

I know the 32/36 can yield good results, just wasn't sure if it worked well on the standard 1600.

I've owned 5 different Kent powered Escorts and its the first change I've made to all of them. The carb change alone (I've run both 32/32 and 32/36) changes the car from sounding and performing like an asthmatic vacuum cleaner into something a bit more reasonable. Not a big power increase but there is a noticeable difference.

Good luck
