I have 6 metres of new reproduction Black Beta Cloth on the roll purchased from Aldridge UK last year. Will especially suit RS Escorts Mk1 and Mk2 fitted with the Scheel seats. The cloth is foamed backed and is much stronger than the original beta material.

Please note that the material has slightly reduced quality in that the typcial beta cloth rectangular pattern is not as defined as the original Ford material.

I purchased the beta cloth for our Mk2 RS2000 concourse restoration, however I have chosen not to use it. I am disappointed with the material and especially livid with Aldridge themselves.

The material has cost me a small fortune, however I will happily sell at a reasonably cheap price.

I will happily prepare if buyer arranges freight. Ex metro Sydney.

Can arrange to post a small sample to interested people.

Even though the material has a weak pattern it still is an exceptional quality material and will look brilliant in most cars.

The only reason I did not use it is because our concourse car "could" lose a few points in strict concourse competitions because of the less defined rectangular pattern.

PM for further discussions.

Hi Peter,
I have a set of Scheel seats which I believe may be falcon ESP ones with some mounting brackets which are dodgy. As your car is concourse, can you tell me what the proper seat mounts look like, or even better, post a picture if you're able. I need to have the proper ones if I am going to get the car through rego, when it's eventually finished. Any assistance would be appreciated.

There are effectivrly 2 types of the RS Scheel mounts used by Ford. The ones pictured by Peter for his are the "Ghia" type and similar or the same as those used on the Ghia seats....

My 1980 RS 4dr has different looking ones and I have seen these on another couple of Escort RS's with the factory Scheels. They are adjustable with three heaight setting (have to unbolt and rebolt for the changed setting and are made with a thicker steel and long thin tubes instead of the pressed items of the Ghia type...

Seats also came in at least 3 varieties, with one set having the reclining lever halfway up the seat side (an possibly used in 2 and 4 doors), while the other (later?) type such as mine, have the reclining lever in the base hinge similar to the standard 2 door seats, but in the later 4 door RS there is no lever to quickly recline it...

I heard that Ford ordered them in 2 batches at least so that may explain the 2 totally different types of mounts abd seats (not sure on the correctness of this wisper though...)

peter has correct seat rails shown in his pics, they are 100% original and are identical to those found and used in the escort ghias. there is definately only the one type of seat mounting fixture, the other seat mountings being mentioned are definately not original.

My 1980 RS2000 4 door has the same mounts as pictured by Peter - all RS2000s with original fitment seats that I have seen have the same mounts as pictured. There may be others out there, but I personally have not come across them.

Len - as you may have already noticed - the Ghia model shared the same seat mounts (I believe Scheel made the Ghia seats as well) - you may be able to track down a donor Ghia easier than an RS....

Back on topic - Peter, 6mtrs is enough to do front and rear? What is 'a reasonably cheap price'?

Cheers

James
