Thanks for the positive feedback, clear over base does look good straight off the gun but looks a awesome after rubbing back a coat of clear with 1500 then buffing but the engine bay will get that.
Will start a projects thread in a week or so, hoping to have it ready the Street Machine Spectacular show in August but it looks a bridge to far at the moment but we will see !!.

Jonny I am glad you like it, I have attached another picture of the bonnet, I am looking forward to getting it in the sun & getting a few more pictures with a decent camera as the camera in my phone does not really do the colour justice as the colour really does pop.

Mind you it will be a few weeks before that happens as there is a ton of refitting ahead of us now.

Hey Fellas,

Thought i would share some pics of the bay now its done

I was asked by a family member on seeing the results how many coats?

Well we had 3 of epoxy cut back at 60

then 120 2k, then 220 2k , then 320/400 2k , ( all dry )

then 600 2k (wet)

then 3 base silver fox , then 1000 fixing some glitches , then 1 1/2 base

then 3 1/2 coats clear

I think they stopped listening after the first line a simple

oh around 13 / 15 coats would have been about right [88]

actually , these pics show untrue colour - and some bad patches which are not there - in as i have a halogen beeming above( makes everything gold highlight in pic) combined with fluro

there is alot going on with reflection also ( read imo they look below average ),

I will try to get a decent daylight pic up if you have not fell asleep reading this yet

i found a touch up gun to be more than handy around drip rails etc

also the 1000 mentioned above was due to me letting wax and grease out of control on a couple of areas- will throw that over my shoulder as it does not react nicely with light mettalic

spat the rest out with a star evo-t 4000

This is my first venture out of the acrylic age and i must say its nice to see an instant reward for effort

onto sanding out those nibs and flow indicators ( runs ) before a buff
